Initiatives Overview
Along with a
Writing Studies Graduate Concentration, the Center sponsors a series of interdisciplinary initiatives designed to foster and extend conversations about writing studies research across campus and beyond.
The Colloquium series brings to campus distinguished speakers to share their scholarship, along with hosting a special Graduate Student Research Forum each semester. In addition, affiliated faculty and graduate students discuss research-in-progress in our
brownbag series. There is also the
Writing Across the Curriculum initiative, which has offered seminars and activities on how to productively integrate writing in diverse disciplinary contexts since 1990, and in 2007, the University of Illinois was named a new site of the
National Writing Project. The University of Illinois Writing Project UIWP features a Summer Institute that assists teachers across grade levels and disciplines in the teaching of writing.
