I’m originally from San José, Costa Rica and a native Spanish speaker. Somewhere along my journey learning English I fell in love with it and decided to become an English major and to help others grow through writing center work. I graduated from the University of Kansas with a B.A in English with an emphasis in Rhetoric and Composition. I received my M.A. in English from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Through coursework, working at the Writers Workshop, teaching, and administrative positions at UIUC I've become interested in the literacy practices of Latinx students and am working on a dissertation on this topic that combines archival and ethnographic methods.
Latinx students' literacy practices, Spanglish, archival historiography, and writing center and writing program theory and administration.
