Abstract
Dr. Balsamo addresses the relationship between cultural theory and the design of new media applications. She is especially interested in discussing the role of "writing" in the mediation between critical/cultural theory and the practice for new media development. As background for this discussion, she will present a brief overview of her experience in curriculum development and program administration of the M.S. program in "Information Design and Technology," as well as her new work as a new media research designer at Xerox PARC.
