Presentation Title: "The Rhetoric of Electronic Writing"
Date: March 24, 1992
Abstract
The computer offers us a new technology for writing and reading: electronic mail, newsgroups, textual databases, and especially hypertext are all instances of the new writing space the computer makes available. We must now ask whether our familiar notions of rhetoric, developed in the age of print, should be changed to accommodate the electronic writing space. I suggest that in the new space old rhetorical figures may be revitalized and take on new operational meaning for writers and readers.
