Presentation Title: "Feminism and Composition Studies Today: Subjects in Process"
Date: November 14, 1996
Abstract
Professor Jarratt's talk presents a set of reflections on how to frame a conjunction between "feminism" and "composition studies," beginning with a brief history of non-connection between the fields until the early 80's and an overview of the similarities in institutional paradoxes faced by composition programs and women's studies programs. The body of the paper traces issues of power, persuasion, and pedagogy for "women" as the subject of feminist and "the student" as the subject of composition.
