Abstract
The Thrust of this paper is to argue that after twenty-five years and what Sue McLeod has defined as two stages of WAC, it's time for a third stage (and outgrowth, maybe, of the third stage offered by Donna LeCourt recently). But to get to that third stage, we need to understand the biases that remain from ancient times about the academy. We need to accept, further, that the nexus of oppressions in this country are most visibly evident in racism. After talking these items through, Villanueve argues for a newly politicized approach to WAC.
