Name: Art Young, Professor of English and Engineering, Clemson University
Presentation Title: "The Writing/Thinking Connection"
Date: September 30, 1999
In his talk, Young explores the intimate connections among writing, thinking, and learning. He argues that good, cross-disciplinary programs exploit these connections, often bringing the expressive, informative, and poetic functions of writing into such diverse classes as psychology, biology, civil engineering, and literature. Young, a founder of the American writing-across-the-curriculum (WAC) movement, is in a unique position to assess wac's impact on composition studies over the past 15 years.
