Name: Patricia Harkin, Purdue University
Presentation Title: "Teaching Cultural Studies at Purdue: After Jim Berlin"
Date: April 18, 1996
In this talk, Professor Harkin tries to come to terms with Jim Berlin's later and posthumous writing in the context of specific circumstances of teaching at Purdue--circumstances which she has come to know over the last two years. Professor Harkin describes what she takes to be Jim's "disciplinary" understanding of cultural studies, point to some critiques of it, and explain why she thinks he found it helpful. Finally, she briefly suggests an agenda for a "post-disciplinary" cultural studies.
