Who We Are

The Center for Writing Studies is an interdisciplinary academic unit at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign that facilitates research and promotes graduate study in the areas of written composition, language, literacy, and rhetoric.

  • Colloquium Series

    The Colloquium series brings to campus distinguished speakers to share their scholarship and also hosts, each semester, a special Graduate Student Research Forum.

  • Writing Across the Curriculum

    The Writing Across the Curriculum program offers seminars and activities on how to productively integrate writing in diverse disciplinary contexts.

  • Research-in-Progress Brownbag

    Research-in-Progress Brownbags include informal presentations by affiliated faculty, graduate students, visiting scholars, and other faculty members from across campus.

  • University of Illinois Writing Project

    In 2007, the University of Illinois was named a new site of the National Writing Project. The UIWP features a Summer Institute and other activities that assist teachers across grade levels and disciplines in the teaching of writing.
